A weight loss endeavor without a plan is like a ship without a rudder. Most likely you will just spin in circles and see little to no results. Following a complete program will give you direction and allow you to make the adjustments that will optimize your individual results.

Equally important is having a plan for each day because if you don’t, you will end up getting blown all over the place. It is vital to your success to make sure that you eat the right things at the right time and get your exercise in (we will soon discuss nutrition and exercise planning). Planning shouldn’t be cumbersome or take very much time. A few minutes at night, right before you start your Mastering Your Mind CD, should be enough time to get you ready for the next day.

Planning and tracking gives my clients and me the ability to quickly analyze why they’re being successful or struggling to accomplish their goals. I had a client just a few weeks ago walk in disappointed with their results. I looked at their nutrition for the past week, made some simple changes, and they lost 4 pounds. I was able to help them because they were planning and tracking. Otherwise I wouldn’t have had any clue why they were struggling.

Now take out a piece of paper, your phone, or open a word document and make your plan for tomorrow. Make sure you know when you’re going to get out of bed, eat your meals, exercise, do your planning for the next day, and go to bed.

I recommend that you start planning what you’ll eat with a program called dailyburn, which has a free tool that will allow you to see how many calories you are eating and what portion of those calories are from carbohydrates, fats, or proteins. It is the best online tool I have found for tracking your eating. You can even add me as your motivator and I can have access to your nutrition journal.

I will be choosing two people to consult with using this tool. These two people will receive a 20 minute nutrition analysis once a week for the remainder of the 31 days. I usually charge $50 to do this with my clients. All you have to do is leave a short persuasive story about why you think you need help with your nutrition. I will pick the two posts that move me the most. Monday, April 12th will be the deadline on these posts. If you know others who could use this, encourage them to begin their 31 Days to Your IdealShape and leave a comment on this post.

Also: The Mastering the Mind CD downloads will be e-mailed out on Monday, April 5th to all those who left comments on the last post.

Well I’ll start out! I have the issue of “snacking”. I feel like I am eating all day long! I’ve been able to have more healthy foods than unhealthy foods in my house, but I still eat them all the time. Like I know I should only have a 1/4 C of nuts (or something like that…) but I don’t really pay attention and I probably end up eating a full cup! I could really use help with figuring out my calorie/carb/protein needs.

Is it too late for this? My eating issue is simply I like to eat. I eat anything and everything. Healthy and not healthy. I need to lose about 80 more pounds so the nutritional counseling would help.
