What You Need To Know Before You Go Crazy With An Exercise Program
Posted on 18. May, 2010 by Skyler Meine in Fitness
Where To Start
The first question I ask myself when starting an exercise program with a client is how can I keep this person healthy. Injury will stop the best exercise program dead in its tracks. To prevent injury, each muscle and joint needs to be moving correctly. In order to ensure this is happening, I use foam rolling and active stretching to improve the quality and function of my clients’ muscles and joints.
Foam rolling is nothing more than self massage. Foam rolling targets trigger points or areas where the muscle fascia has become thick, tough or knotted. These areas, if not treated, can potentially create dysfunction and eventually injury. By rolling out each muscle group with a foam roller, especially targeting tight or painful areas, you can start improving the muscle fascia and prevent injury. (more…)

Day 2 of 31 To Your IdealShape: The Secret! The Real Magic Pill!
Posted on 02. Apr, 2010 by Skyler Meine in 1-31
Alright, alright, I know what you are thinking. “Come on, Skyler, you said you are a trustable source of weight loss knowledge. There is no magic pill or magic solution to weight loss. And everything that has come around that looked like a magic solution has had detrimental results on people’s health.”
Weight loss should be about long-term sustainable health, right?
If we know that, then why do we keep chasing products or services that claim to be able to get us to lose weight but in the end destroy our long-term health? Well, the truth is most people aren’t motivated to lose weight to improve their health, rather they want to look a certain way and fast. The motivation is short-term and in the end individuals end up putting the weight right back on.
Ok. There is no real magic pill. But there is something you can do that takes little to no extra time out of your day. It will help you sleep better, have more energy, be more positive, and lose weight just as fast as a magic pill. That thing? Your mind!
That’s right. If you train your mind to enable your weight loss success, you will see incredible results. To read more about the power of the mind, go here. See, the challenge with every other weight loss program is they address the symptoms of the problem, not the actual problem, which is what’s going on in your head that got you to the weight you are at.
Change the habits and behaviors that got you to the weight you aren’t satisfied with, and you will be able to get to and stay at your IdealShape.
If you are ready to achieve your IdealShape and take back control of your mind, then you better make sure you have completed the task from the previous posts. And leave a comment at the end of this post with your e-mail (To leave a comment you have to include it anyway) and I will send you the first 30 days of the IdealShape Mastering the Mind Series.
To learn more about Mastering the Mind To Achieve Your IdealShape, click here. To learn more about the science behind it, start here first.
You will listen to the program right before you go to bed each night and it is essential to your success over the next 29 days.
If there is someone else searching for a solution to their weight loss issues, please invite them to join us and start the 31 Days to Your IdealShape.

Who’s Trying To Lose Weight?
Posted on 23. Mar, 2010 by Skyler Meine in Fitness
Almost everybody! I just read a disturbing article on rd.com about people trying to lose weight that you might want to read. The problem of obesity is spreading throughout the world at an astounding rate. Chronic disease is killing people all over the world. The most surprising stat: more people are now dying from overeating than under-eating.
I had an interesting conversation over the weekend about the increasing demand that obesity is putting on our health care system in America. The discussion was centered around the fact that, as a country, we have taken a pretty strong stance against the tobacco industry in regards to health, but have done little about the food industry and its relationship to obesity.
The person I was talking to made a comment: when does it become socially acceptable to say to those who are overeating and are obese, “Do you know what you are doing to yourself? If you continue that behavior, you are going to kill yourself!”
We make those comments to smokers, but when do we realize that food is killing us and make people aware of this issue?
Just some interesting issues surrounding obesity that I thought everyone should consider. Check out the link above and leave a comment for discussion.

Don’t Make Yourself The Exception
Posted on 16. Mar, 2010 by Skyler Meine in Weight Loss Tips
Everyone has the ability to lose weight. For a very small (and I mean very small) portion of the population, losing weight requires the help of a medical doctor but weight loss is still possible. For everyone else it comes down to doing the work to find the solution that will work for you. When I hear people say they can’t lose weight, it makes me want to rip my hair out and scream from the roof tops, “Stop Lying To Yourself.” The formula is simple: burn more calories than you eat and you will lose weight. Honestly, it is that simple.
I can hear you saying, “It isn’t that simple, Skyler. Every time I try to lose weight, I exercise and eat right and nothing happens.”
Well, guys, the answer is simple: you aren’t burning more calories than you are eating. One of two things is happening: you are eating more than you think or your metabolism is really slow. And both things can be remedied. By learning to eat the right things at the right time and practicing fat-burning, metabolism-enhancing exercise, you can and will start to lose weight.
I guarantee when I work with my clients that they are going to lose weight if they are willing to follow my program. I have never meet a client who didn’t lose weight if they followed through on their end. Sometimes it does take working with a weight loss expert to figure it out. Sometimes it is to difficult to figure out on your own, but I want to emphasize that it can be done. If you want to achieve your IdealShape, you can.
And as an incentive to come back we will be discussing what to eat and the fat-burning, metabolism-enhancing exercise that you should be doing.

Hello…Didn’t You Know Weight Loss Requires Effort!
Posted on 12. Feb, 2010 by Skyler Meine in Fitness
A weight loss program that promises results with little or no effort is not a program worth wasting your money on. Over the past few years, the weight loss industry has been destroyed by weight loss products that promise to help you lose weight and maintain that weight loss, but don’t deliver. The promises have been big, and the results have been minimal.
People have become more skeptical of these products, but still millions of these ineffective weight loss products are sold each year! One of the biggest problems is that oftentimes these weight loss companies don’t require individuals to adopt healthy nutrition and exercise habits.
As a fitness professional, I feel that it is my responsibility to educate people about the correct way to lose weight and inform them about products that really work. There are highly effective programs, but more often than not they are going to require you to exercise, eat healthy and take supplements. That’s because this is the best way to achieve and maintain your ideal shape.
Decreasing your weight and improving your health can have an incredible effect on your life. Doing it with an effective program will ensure that you have the best chance of getting and maintaining your results.
Remember, you aren’t the exception. You are not the person who can’t lose weight. The solution to your weight loss issue is out there!
