Weight Loss Begins and Ends in the Mind
Posted on 04. May, 2010 by Skyler Meine in Weight Loss Tips
As a weight loss expert, I have asked myself one question more than any other:
Why do weight loss programs and diets ultimately fail for the majority?
I have read hundreds of different diets and weight loss programs—many from the best personal trainers and nutritionists in the world. The principles are sound. They should work. So why aren’t more people getting to their IdealShape and staying there? Aren’t thousands of these programs being sold every day? (more…)

Day 1 of 31 To Your IdealShape: House Cleaning!
Posted on 01. Apr, 2010 by Skyler Meine in 1-31
My philosophy in regards to weight loss and fitness is life is meant to be lived passionately. We should find joy and success in all we do.
Many of us have become stagnant in our lives, especially in regards to our health. Sadly, for many people weight loss and fitness can be very painful emotionally. Many have lost the hope that they can achieve and maintain their IdealShape.
That’s why I use the name IdealShape. I want to re-instill hope in everyone I meet that they can achieve their IdealShape. The second reason I use the name IdealShape is because I think that everyone has an IdealShape unique to them. Not a standard commercialized shape but their best or ideal figure. Whatever that Ideal is for you, I believe it can become a reality. It is just a matter of your belief in yourself combined with learning and practicing the right principles.
A major obstacle on your path to your IdealShape is this: there are way too many voices trying to tell you how to lose weight and be healthy.
Let’s begin this in the same way that I start with my face to face clients; I’ll first give you the broad view of what we will be focusing on over the 31 Days. In order to be successful, you are going to have to believe that I can help you not only physically but emotionally get to your IdealShape. The truth of the matter is that I can. Visit one of my clients’ blogs, No More Bacon, to see for yourself.
Once you believe I can help you, you need to do what I ask you to do! Then you need to get involved in the community here that will be commenting on this blog. Be prepared to tell your story and support the people who will be telling theirs.
Starting with Your Mind
The first thing I want you to do today is take a few minutes and just imagine what it would be like to achieve your IdealShape. Imagine the feelings you would have when you reach this goal (Joy, Energy, Confidence, Attractiveness, Sexy, Loved, Inner Peace, Connected, Productive, Proud, Happiness, Acceptance).
Your “Mind” is going to be a huge part of your success during the 31 days. I will reveal to you how you are going to master your mind over the next few day. But to start, I need you to write a paragraph about what your IdealShape is, what it will feel like to be at your IdealShape, and why you want to be your IdealShape.
Once you master the mind, everything else will fall naturally into place. But the next thing that is going to need to fall into place, after your mind, is your nutrition. To get to your IdealShape in warp speed it is going to require some form of exercise. I will get into the nitty gritty of these things over the next couple weeks.
Each day we will be adding a new principle to get you to your IdealShape. Focus on that principle and master it for that day. Keep practicing each principle every day for 31 days to make it a habit. I am going to be your personal weight loss expert for the next 31 days. Feel free to ask questions along the way.
Just one reminder: make sure to take your picture and do your measurements.
Tomorrow I will be revealing the secret to mastering your mind. So tune in.

Preparations For The 31 Days To Your IdealShape Program!
Posted on 30. Mar, 2010 by Skyler Meine in 1-31
Having been involved in the fitness industry for over 12 years as an athlete, fitness fanatic and personal trainer, I have developed an appreciation for the struggles people encounter with weight loss and maintenance. For some people, being overweight can be downright depressing.
Growing up I struggled emotionally and physically with my weight. I can remember lying on the grass in front of my house at the age of 11 so upset about being made fun of at school because I was overweight that I was crying. From 12 to 15, I started exercising and dieting (or in the beginning starving myself – the only dieting I knew). I was trying to lose the extra weight with little to no success.
Everything turned around for me when I started working out in high school for football. I worked out three to four hours a day, so eating had little impact on my weight (needless to say, I didn’t change my eating habits much). I was able to lose the extra fat I was carrying around, but wasn’t able to perform up to the level I wanted to in sports.
After finishing high school, I started creating my own workout programs and began to understand more and more about building muscle and decreasing fat. I became more athletic and fit over the next year, working out less but smarter, and I saw bigger gains in achieving the appearance I wanted. Still I put no emphasis on eating.
For the last four years I have dedicated myself to finding weight loss solutions for the average person. I wanted to be the premier weight loss expert. By studying and experimenting with the top programs in the industry, I have come to the conclusion that there is much to be desired with them. There are too many companies and too many products trying to take shortcuts in helping people get the weight off and keep it off. Many of the best trainers out there refuse to deal with weight loss as their primary target because they think a majority of people wanting to lose weight are only looking for the magic pill. And they may be right. But my hope is to prove them wrong and teach you not only how to lose the weight, but how to keep it off.
Starting April 1st I will be revealing the secrets I have been using to help individuals lose up to 30 pounds in a month and 120 pounds in eight months. Join the movement toward a healthier life. Before April 1st you need to make sure to take a picture of yourself, measure yourself (follow the link and it will explain where to measure), and take your weight. I would also recommend writing a couple paragraphs about your health and fitness levels right now to remind you about how you felt at the beginning of the 31 Days.

Alright. I’ll bite.
So I found you through No More Bacon and this post is intriguing. I’m fascinated about joining challenges and I see that there are so many out there. My ADHD can’t help me decided which one to join up with. Consider me signed up? Well, as long as you stay on top of me so I remember to follow along!
About me… I’ve written a blog post about why I got fat and will be more than happy to share but for now I’ll try and give you a condensed version.
I’m 29 years old. Growing up I was never fat. Being poor, food wasn’t as available as it is for most people so I was perpetually scrawny. I didn’t really start packing on the beef until 19-20 and that was because I was working regularly. The money went to convenience food like pizza (coincidentally, my workplace) and I ballooned up over time. I’m currently sitting at about 228 lbs (I’m only 5′6″). I’ve also decided to start the C25k program and hope that I’ll actually be able to finish it. That’d be pretty awesome.
Tell me what you’d like me to measure. We’ll see what I can do about taking a picture. Being a fat guy, I’m not exactly thrilled at the prospect of taking a picture of myself so I’ll possibly just use one taken of me a week or two ago.
So… hey.

Don’t Make Yourself The Exception
Posted on 16. Mar, 2010 by Skyler Meine in Weight Loss Tips
Everyone has the ability to lose weight. For a very small (and I mean very small) portion of the population, losing weight requires the help of a medical doctor but weight loss is still possible. For everyone else it comes down to doing the work to find the solution that will work for you. When I hear people say they can’t lose weight, it makes me want to rip my hair out and scream from the roof tops, “Stop Lying To Yourself.” The formula is simple: burn more calories than you eat and you will lose weight. Honestly, it is that simple.
I can hear you saying, “It isn’t that simple, Skyler. Every time I try to lose weight, I exercise and eat right and nothing happens.”
Well, guys, the answer is simple: you aren’t burning more calories than you are eating. One of two things is happening: you are eating more than you think or your metabolism is really slow. And both things can be remedied. By learning to eat the right things at the right time and practicing fat-burning, metabolism-enhancing exercise, you can and will start to lose weight.
I guarantee when I work with my clients that they are going to lose weight if they are willing to follow my program. I have never meet a client who didn’t lose weight if they followed through on their end. Sometimes it does take working with a weight loss expert to figure it out. Sometimes it is to difficult to figure out on your own, but I want to emphasize that it can be done. If you want to achieve your IdealShape, you can.
And as an incentive to come back we will be discussing what to eat and the fat-burning, metabolism-enhancing exercise that you should be doing.

Plan and Track Your Success
Posted on 13. Mar, 2010 by Skyler Meine in Weight Loss Tips
We have all heard the quote, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Well, it is the truth and none of us want to be failures. If I told you all you had to do for the next 90 days to achieve your IdealShape was take 15 minute every night before bed and plan the next day… would you do it? Once you know what you should be doing, that’s really all it takes to become insanely successful with your exercise and nutrition programs.
Planning makes you accountable to both yourself and the weight loss expert you’re working with. Planning will give you a quick reference to your compliance with the designated program. For example, I teach all of my clients what they need to be doing with nutrition and have them plan and track their nutrition at dailyburn.com. When we weigh each week, if they aren’t seeing the success they want to, we jump on the computer and look at their diets to see what they’re doing. Because they are planning and tracking, I easily see what nutrition mistakes they are making and help them adjust.
Not too long ago I had a client come in who wasn’t losing weight as quickly as they wanted. They said they were eating the designated amount of calories explained in the IdealShape eBook. So I said, “Let’s check out what you’re eating and when you are eating it.” We jumped on dailyburn and the problem was clear: they were eating a majority of their calories in one meal even though they were eating six meals a day. I made minor adjustments and got them planning proportionate meals every day. They lost four pounds the next week.
I couldn’t have made the changes to help this client achieve success if they weren’t planning and tracking. Get tips on foolproof tracking and planning here.

Commit To Losing Weight!
Posted on 12. Mar, 2010 by Skyler Meine in Weight Loss Tips
It isn’t enough to set goals or tell everyone you have a goal. You actually have to do everything possible to accomplish the goal, and that is going to take commitment. Commitment is a total investment in completing what you set out to accomplish. Your goal weight, inches and fitness level should be prominently displayed on your mirror, so you can read those numbers each morning.
If you really want to make your goals happen, close your eyes for 10-20 seconds and visualize what you will look like when you get there and how you will feel. No kidding. This works and you will accomplish your goals faster if you can see and feel what it will be like to accomplish them.
Remember: if you have a bad day or a bad month, your goals shouldn’t change. If you plateau (which you won’t if you are on a great weight loss program and actually following it 100%), that doesn’t give you the excuse to give up. The solution is right around the corner.
Now you have your goal and can see and feel what it will be like to get your IdealShape. The only limiting factor is having the knowledge to get there. That’s why, as a weight loss expert, I am going to give you the answers to these question in each upcoming post.
If you are having a hard time finding the determination to commit or follow through, I would highly recommend that you try hypnosis for weight loss. Sometimes we don’t know what is really causing us to sabotage our weight loss goals. Hypnotherapy can help you overcome many obstacles very quickly, with lasting results.

Destroy Roadblocks Keeping You From Losing Weight
Posted on 11. Mar, 2010 by Skyler Meine in Weight Loss Tips
If you are like many of my weight loss clients, you have started more programs than you would like to count. You had high hopes and those hopes quickly faded, either because you didn’t follow through or you weren’t seeing the results you wanted to see. Was it your fault? Consciously maybe it wasn’t. But maybe something was going on in your head, unconsciously, that sabotaged your weight loss goals.
If you struggled to stay on track with your goals, you were probably frustrated because you didn’t understand why. As a weight loss expert I sometimes have to be a psychologist, too. I have to determine what is going on in my clients’ minds that is keeping them from being successful with program I have given them. I know it isn’t the program, per se, because everyone else following it is losing weight. So I realized early on that I had to find other solutions in addition to motivation, good nutrition and exercise to help them accomplish their goals. And, by the way, I am not a big fan of trying to be psychologist or counselor to my clients. So instead I found a resource that is much, much more effective: hypnosis for weight loss.
Weight loss hypnotherapy can help you overcome the roadblocks that have kept you from losing weight. It also helps you develop the habits that will let you lose weight successfully and keep it off. This isn’t like the hypnosis you see in the movies. Instead, you put in a Weight Loss Hypnotherapy CD right before you go to bed at night. Through guided meditation, it imprints on your subconscious the determination to accomplish your goals. It also relaxes and grounds you, so you’ll sleep better and wake up to continue your program with a clear mind.
Many of my clients who once looked at their weight loss journey negatively are now finding it enjoyable and worthwhile. This is due to the impact that hypnosis for weight loss has had on their subconscious. To learn more about hypnosis for weight loss, click here. If it sounds like I am giving you a sales pitch, that’s because I am. Hypnotherapy has proven to be incredibly successful for weight loss, and it’s something people need to look into if they are encountering roadblocks in their weight loss journey.

Be Accountable To Someone
Posted on 10. Mar, 2010 by Skyler Meine in Weight Loss Tips
Find someone or a whole group of people to keep you accountable to your goals. Seriously, tell someone. Tell everyone. Tell the person in line at the grocery store, and tell the clerk as they scan your food items. Post a sign on your porch saying “Do not disturb: in the process of losing 30 pounds.” Make a bumper sticker that allows you to check off the pounds as you lose weight. I know I am going a little overboard here, but if you are going to do it, everyone should know. You should believe in your goal enough that you are comfortable telling everyone because you aren’t going to let them down.
For some people, working with a weight loss expert and discussing it with them is enough to get the accountability levels up and truly commit. But some of you may need stronger forms of accountability. For example, one of my clients has created a blog to tell the world about his weight loss journey. Stop by www.nomorebacon.com and show him some support!
